Kyle Rittenhouse has been in jail since August when he was arrested for shooting 3 protestors in Kenosha Wisconsin. He was released after posting bail on Friday.

The 17 year old had traveled from his home in Illinois to attend the protest with an AR-15. It was unclear how he decided to go but he ended up charged with first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree reckless homicide and attempted first-degree intentional homicide after killing two and paralyzing another.

While some were horrified by the thought of a man child going into a protest with a high powered gun, others came to his support labeling him a hero. The supporters raised millions for his bail and his defense. Hundreds of thousands were raised by the Christian fundraising group GiveSendGo after GoFundMe pulled a similar campaign for violating their terms of service. The FightBack Foundation also stepped in to build a legal defense fund. Actor Ricky Schroder and My Pillow CEO, Mike Lindell were credited with giving enough to help make the final bail amount.

Rittenhouse has indicated he doesn't regret carrying the weapon to the protest. Prosecutors paint him as a militia wannabe while his supporters say he had every right to protect himself in an environment of protestors turned rioters.

If convicted Rittenhouse faces life in prison, for now he is free on bail.
