Florida has issued a ban on alcohol consumption at its bars after its daily confirmed coronavirus cases neared 9,000.
The Florida agency that governs bars announced the ban on Twitter Friday just moments after the state’s Department of Health reported 8,942 new confirmed cases – topping the previous record of 5,500 set on Wednesday.
State officials have concluded the spike is driven by young adults not adhering to social distancing restrictions at bars. Florida being one of the few states that allow drinking at the bar in food and beverage establishments.
Now you can’t go to the bar and drink.
According to the state press release, more than 20,000 new cases have been reported since Saturday.
No updates on death tolls have been made public.
